Business Process Management

The field of research in business process management puts in focus the theories, methods and instruments that have an organizational supporting effect in the phases of strategy, draft, implementation and controlling. Particular importance lies on inter-related methods like knowledge management, quality management and software-based approaches of business process management.

The dynamic processes of the markets are followed by an individualization of the satisfaction of needs by the enterprises. This has significant consequences for the workflow in organizations. While the organizational structure was paramount until the 80´s, the focus for improvement lies currently on the process organization. In the course of professionalization of business process management it will get transparent that an isolated view on the processes is not enough. Only by including other approaches (quality management, knowledge management, project management etc.) the business process management will gain its strength. Therefore our research concentrates on the current realization of business process management, shows weaknesses and gives hints on improvement possibilities by looking at the intersection with other management methods.
