Project Management

In the past project management has gained more attention in research as well as in practice. Many industries are already dependent on projects. These have to be structured, controlled and executed. In this research area our department deals with the application of methods and tools and the associated software support that enable the success of projects in planning, executing, measuring and evaluating. In doing so the basics of project management is getting attention as well as the current development of project management and its area of responsibility.

The main research topic of project management deals with aspects of planning and executing the project management in enterprises and the support of these managerial functions by information systems. The orientation of the research lies in the approach of specific information needs and the requirements of the management and the project team. Another focus is on the technically feasible realization with the help of available technologies. Thereby is is taking account of the observation that many actual observed systems and the appropriate concept formation arise from the technically feasible and less from the necessity. The most important matter of the research field is the support of strategic planning and monitoring in the area of organizational change by integrated information systems. Classical application systems in this domain are balanced-scorecard or multi-project management systems.
