CoVaCoa: Sustainable consumption decisions in the context of telecoupling

Sustainable consumption describes “the use of services and related products, which respond to basic needs and bring a better quality of life while minimizing the use of natural resources and toxic materials as well as the emissions of waste and pollutants over the life cycle of the service or product so as not to jeopardize the needs of further generations” (Ofstad et al., 1994). In this context, the group's researchers are investigating how sustainable consumption can be stimulated and what role sustainability labels play in respectvive purchasing decisions.

As part of the interdisciplinary research consortium CoVaCoa- Consumer decisions, Value chains & Cocoa, we are investigating how sustainable cocoa production and chocolate consumption can be supported and promoted.
