This course builds on the introductory lecture ’Umwelt- und Verhaltensökonomik‘ and combines advanced insights from environmental and behavioral economics. It thereby contributes to a deepened understanding of human behavior with respect to environmental problem situations, and how it could be altered by policy interventions. With regards to the latter, the course goes beyond standard environmental policy approaches. Moreover, students learn about the complexities of environmental policy design, the link between science and policymaking, and to evaluate the impacts of (environmental) policies before and after implementation. Many empirical examples will be used throughout the course to motivate and illustrate course contents and apply them to real world policy examples.
